What’s the difference between Botox and Dysport?
Botox and Dysport are two extremely similar injectable aesthetics treatments. Both are purified versions of the Botulinum toxin type A, derived from bacteria, and both treat wrinkles in adults.
They work by blocking a muscle’s nerve signals so that it temporarily paralyzes, and wrinkles can soften, fade, or disappear completely.
The main differences between these two treatments are their intensity and where they work best.
When injected into the muscle, it blocks the muscle’s nerve signals, temporarily paralyzing it so that wrinkles caused by muscle movement can soften, dissipate, or fully disappear. Results usually last between three and four months.
Botox and Dysport
These products work on dynamic wrinkles, or wrinkles caused by muscle movement, such as:
- Crow’s feet around the eyes
- Smile lines around the mouth
- Horizontal lines on the forehead
- Lines between the eyebrows
Dysport
Dysport’s effects are visualized sooner and last longer than those of Botox, so it is the product of choice for moderate to severe glabellar lines.
Both products are safe, with little to no downtime. The team at Berks Women’s Health performs both Botox and Dysport procedures in-office.
How do laser treatments work?
Berks Women’s Health offers several types of laser treatments: laser hair removal and laser vein reduction. Laser treatments such as these work by harnessing light and heat.
Laser hair removal
During a laser hair removal treatment, your team member presses a nonablative, handheld laser against your skin, where the laser light passes through your skin, directly to your hair follicles. The laser light damages the follicles so that they eventually fall out and inhibits future growth.
Laser vein reduction
Laser vein reduction procedures use a handheld laser device to deliver blasts of laser heat into undesired leg veins, such as spider veins or varicose veins. The laser light moves harmless through your skin and straight to the veins.
Laser vein reduction produces immediate results on small spider veins. Varicose veins and larger spider veins take longer to disappear after treatment. First, they darken, then they disappear in one to three months.
